Sustainable Success Nudge from Your Future Self

💬 “Your nervous system is yearning for rhythm.”

This week: Try working with your energy instead of against it.

Hi Melinda,

Most high performers struggle because they stay “on” for too long.

Sound familiar?

Pushing past the point of effectiveness.
Ignoring the body’s signals.
Mistaking endurance for productivity.

Here’s a powerful, self-leadership hacks I teach:

The 45–15 Rhythm

Focused work for 45 minutes.
Step away for 15 minutes.

Not to scroll.
Not to prepare.
But to reset your nervous system.

Those 15 minutes are imperative for percolation and regulation.
Where your brain integrates.
Where creativity refuels.

Use the 15 minutes to:

  • step outside
  • stretch or walk
  • breathe intentionally
  • stare out a window
  • do nothing on purpose (it's okay, I give you full permission)

This is about creating in cycles instead of draining yourself in one long push.

Here’s the experiment:
Try the 45–15 rhythm for just one day.

That’s it. One day.

Notice:

  • your effectiveness in the 45
  • your clarity after the 15
  • how your body feels by the end of the day

You don’t need to adopt it forever.
Just experience what happens when you stop overriding your system.

Because sustainable success is built by honoring how you actually work best.

With rhythm (and flow),
Melinda

P.S. I dive into this and several other productivity hacks in Chapter 8 of my book, Sustainable Success in case you want to research a few others.
