Discernment isn't deciding whether something is good. It's knowing whether it's yours for this season.

One thing I've always loved about entrepreneurs is that we naturally see opportunity.

It's one of our gifts.

We see possibilities where other people see problems.

I never want to lose that.

The mistake isn't seeing opportunity.

The mistake is believing every opportunity requires action...now.

Years ago, inside The Coaches Console, I taught something called The Coaching Business Roadmap to Success.

On the surface, it looked like a roadmap for growing a coaching business.

Over time, it became something even more valuable.

It became a filter.

Entrepreneurs would come to me excited about a new idea.

Most of them were genuinely good ideas.

The question was never,

"Is this a good opportunity?"

The question was,

"Is this the right opportunity right now?"

That's a very different question.

I encouraged them to place every new opportunity into one of three buckets.

NOW.

This aligns with where I am today.

It's time to act.

PARKING LOT.

This is a wonderful idea.

Just not yet.

I'll come back to it when the season is right.

NEVER.

Not because it's a bad idea.

Because it's not mine to pursue.

That simple exercise changed everything.

Because it gave people permission to stop chasing every possibility simply because it appeared.

I've learned something similar in my own journey.

Just because something is a good idea...

doesn't mean it's an idea for me.

And just because it's my idea...

doesn't mean it's my time.

Fear whispers,

"If you don't do this now, you'll miss your chance."

Wisdom quietly replies,

"If it's truly yours, you'll know when it's time."

So here's something I'd love for you to notice this week.

What's the opportunity you've been feeling pressure to pursue?

Does it belong in your Now bucket...

your Parking Lot...

or your Never?

Your creativity isn't measured by how many ideas you pursue.

It's measured by your willingness to protect the ones that matter most until it's their time.
